Boat Launches & Marinas at Lewis Smith Lake
Getting on the water — public launches across all three counties plus marina options.
Check the current Smith Lake water level and elevation via Alabama Power's official shoreline tool. Full pool at Smith Lake is 510 feet elevation. Water levels affect fishing patterns, boat access, and shoreline conditions.
Check Current Level → Alabama PowerLewis Smith Lake has public boat launch access in all three counties it spans — Cullman, Walker, and Winston. Launches range from developed USFS recreation areas with parking and facilities to smaller county-maintained ramps. Before heading out, always check current water levels — a significant drawdown can affect some launches and create navigation hazards at others.

Launch Tips
- Arrive early on summer weekends — popular launches fill fast after 8am
- Check water levels before trailering to a launch — low water can make some ramps unusable
- Have your boat prepped and ready before pulling up to the ramp — courtesy to other boaters
- Inspect your trailer's lights and straps before each trip
- Remove all aquatic vegetation from your boat, trailer, and gear — Alabama law requires it to prevent spread of invasive species
